"When I paint, I am most at home. There are no boundaries, there are no judgements — just the freedom to express what I see and feel within myself and in other people, to feel the healing power of the visual arts, in music and in body movements; I am in this way, expressing my connection with nature and the Divine.”

E. Francisca Dekker, Contemporary Artist

E. Francisca Dekker was born in The Netherlands in 1954 and in 1987 moved to the United States with her husband. Today, they live in Wilmington with their two sons. Francisca graduated with a masters degree in Social Work in Amsterdam. After being a counselor for more than 15 years and since she was new to the U.S., she decided to explore her other talents in a different culture. She taught herself to paint and has been a serious painter since 1999. Her acrylic paintings are exhibited in the ARTSHAK Gallery, Southport, NC and is included in many private collections.

My style of painting is expressive, with fluent movements and contrasting lines. My colors are often symbolic, vibrant and bold — meant to deepen the sense of motion in body, heart and soul. I am not bound to one technique and always leave room to experiment and grow. These past couple of years I have focused on the figurative, bold in colors with over sized hands illustrating all that we do with them and painted with big feet referring to our connection with earth.
